Our Opportunity

The Attorney-General's Department is seeking the services of a senior information technology specialist to take on the Architecture Team Leader role in the Chief Technology Office.

The Chief Technology Office provides:

  • technical advice and support to all teams so as to advance reliability, sustainability, efficiency, and innovation

  • stewardship of the present and future technical direction and strategy consistent with our business strategy

  • assurance that we have appropriate documentation that helps to secure, manage, and maintain our services.

  • decision making as the first amongst equals in technology and infrastructure choices

  • support to projects as and when required.

The Architecture Team Leader provides expertise and skills to enable development of solutions to support the ICT needs of the Department.  The role has responsibility for the following activities:

  • provides the Chief Technology Office team coordination and management support including development of briefing material and other documentation to support the efficient running of the section

  • contributes business views and expectations to Information Division (ID) teams so as to advance reliability, sustainability, efficiency, and innovation

  • promotes guidance of the current and future technical direction and strategy of the Department

  • undertakes assurance that ID has accurate, appropriate and up-to-date documentation that helps in securing, management, and maintenance of AGD services

  • liaises with external agencies and stakeholders to provide advice on technology and infrastructure choices for the Department

  • advocates for development of new services, software, infrastructure and approaches to technology in support of the Department’s goals

  • undertakes proactive, positive engagement with all AGD business units to drive the Department’s technological innovation and automation agenda

  • identifies overlaps in requirements from different business areas in order to review common problems and potential efficiencies

  • create opportunities for the transfer of knowledge and experience within the team

  • maintains the Department’s business capability Roadmap

  • ensures architectures leverage enterprise architecture approaches, where possible

  • support ICT projects as and when required.

The Architecture Team Leader is responsible for guiding the division’s technology strategy and ensuring projects are delivered in line with the strategy.  The Architecture Team Leader provides context and input for innovative solutions to achieve business needs, and supports the delivery of time critical high profile projects.  The role engages across the business to effectively guide solution development.

Specific requirements for the role:

  • Proven experience in leading and coordinating activities for a specialised technical team to achieve quality outcomes

  • Proven experience in business engagement, identifying requirements and/or establishing business capability roadmaps

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse technical and business teams and understanding of importance of aligning with Enterprise Architecture

  • Strong Planning, financial and performance management skills

  • Proven experience leading and influencing strategic change in an ICT environment

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as ability to communicate effectively with various level of staff
