Our Opportunity

The Attorney-General's Department is seeking the services of an experienced Infrastructure Architect to work in the Chief Technology Office. The Chief Technology Office acts as the steward of the present and future technical direction and provides assurance over change processes.

The Infrastructure Architect is a critical member of the Chief Technology Office team responsible for the conversion of business requirements into planning and design of current and future infrastructure to support business systems. This position is a core resource for coordination of design and implementation for business capabilities. The successful person will apply their considerable expertise and knowledge in support of designing the various infrastructure components required to support business systems.

The Infrastructure Architect:

  • will work closely with business representatives and project teams to design and specify technical solutions that meet project and departmental requirements
  • will develop architectural artefacts, not limited to roadmaps, current and future state designs and, high level and detailed designs
  • support operational teams in the development and technical delivery of solutions
  • participate in the department’s Design Authority and Change Advisory Board.

Technical knowledge and experience in:

  • virtualised server infrastructure including VMware, Linux and Microsoft technologies
  • network technologies including Cisco and F5
  • leading and influencing end-to-end designs, including facilitation of the infrastructure required to support solution implementation 
  • cloud services such as Azure and AWS.

  • demonstrated ability to develop architectural artefacts, not limited to roadmaps, current and future state designs, and high level and detailed designs
  • demonstrated ability to work closely with the project teams to design and specify a technical solution that meets project and departmental requirements.

To be successful in the role you must have experience in:

  • design and development of infrastructure that spans multiple domains
  • leading and influencing end-to-end solution designs, including facilitation of solution implementation
  • one or more of: Network, Storage, Server, Azure, AWS.

The following skills are highly regarded but not mandatory:

  • identity Management
  • unified Communications
  • anti-virus
  • intrusion Protection
  • understanding and experience of systems design for hybrid cloud environments
  • infrastructure automation
  • assistive technology integration.

Qualifications:

  • a degree in computer science, software engineering or information technology will be highly regarded, but is not considered mandatory
  • relevant industry qualifications will be highly regarded, but is not considered mandatory.
