The ICT Operations Branch has multiple vacancies and is looking for APS Level 5/6 officers to perform the role of System Engineer in our Server and Storage Operations Section. The section provides Level 2/Level 3 services across Desktop (Windows 7 & 10), COTS application support and Server Infrastructure.

The roles are primarily focused on providing Level 2/Level 3 administrator support to the following systems:

  • Windows 10 SOE, GPO Orchestration and associated services (ie application whitelisting, HP tablets, Symantec End Point Protection)
  • Software installation and distribution
  • Windows Server (up to version 2016)
  • VMWare Infrastructure Services
  • Commvault backup solutions
  • Monitoring platforms such as Solarwinds, Splunk, Vrealize Operations, SCOM
  • Application support including MS SQL, Aurion, Trim, CRM, Worksite, Ringtail, Mattersphere/Elite

There will also be other opportunities to work on project related tasks and other tasks as directed.


We are seeking applicants to join us in a challenging and exciting environment, working together to achieve a just and secure society. The ideal applicant will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working as part of a larger team, demonstrates initiative and a sound troubleshooting methodology to resolve issues.

The vacancy would suit someone with tertiary qualifications or 3-5 years experience, preferably as an IT Administrator, in one or more of the following:

  • SOE development or support (windows 7 or 10)
  • MS Windows Server, up to version 2016
  • Microsoft SCCM
  • Desktop application packaging, application whitelisting or AntiVirus support
  • Infrastructure support for HP or Dell servers, SAN support (HDS, HP 3Par, Dell Compellant)
  • Virtualisation Technologies (the department currently utilise VSPhere 6.5)
  • Backup solutions (Commvault)
  • Monitoring solutions  (Solarwinds, Splunk, Vrealize Operations, SCOM)
  • Application support (MS SQL, Aurion, Trim, CRM, Worksite, Ringtail, Mattersphere/Elite, Other)

Experience with the following will also be highly regarded:

  • Powershell scripting
  • Internet Information Services (IIS) support
  • Infrastructure (server, desktop or application) support & troubleshooting
  • Change Management, Incident Management or Documentation
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications
